Bart Windey studied law at K.U. Leuven, graduating in 1996 (LL.B., LL.M.). Following his graduation at the K.U. Leuven he went on to spend a year at Northwestern University, School of Law (Chicago, Illinois, USA) where, in 1997, he received a Master of Law.

Between 1997 and 2001 Bart worked as a research fellow at the K.U. Leuven in the Commercial and Insurance Law Department where, under the supervision of Prof. Cousy, he specialised in economic law.

Bart was called to the Tongeren Bar in 1999, working with Adlex where he became a partner in 2004, heading the department of economic and corporate law. He joined Curia on 1 July 2009.

Alongside his legal practice, Bart has kept up his academic research. He sits on a number of editorial boards for law journals and publishes regularly on commercial matters. He taught corporate law at the Katholieke Economische Hogeschool Leuven and is regularly asked as a guest lecturer, as well as being a speaker at seminars on a range of topics.

Bart's practice focuses on corporate law and economic law. He has built up considerable expertise on a number of corporate law issues, such as preparing contracts and supervising transactions as well as litigation. He has particular legal clout working for "venture capitalists".
