Els Leenaerts graduated from Leuven University in 2002 ("licentiaat in de rechten"), after which she worked for one year as a research fellow for social security law in the Institute for Social Law at Leuven University.
In September 2003, she was called to the Brussels bar and started working as a lawyer with VWEW Advocaten, focusing on a variety of matters of labour law. From July 2006 to February 2008, she was part of the labour law department of Linklaters LLP in in Brussels. In March 2008, she rejoined VWEW Advocaten.
Els reinforces Curia's social law team since July 2011.
She specialises in labour law and has developed specific expertise in negotiating redundancy schemes, both for employers and for high executives. She advises companies on all legal aspects of human resources policy. In addition, she has considerable court experience in labour law.
