Guido Lamal graduated from Leuven University in 1988 ("licentiaat in de rechten"). He followed a course of legal training in Germany (Juristenprogramm des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes 1988-1989).
He worked for a Düsseldorf law firm (1989-1990) and went on to become a member of the Brussels bar in 1991 and to join the law firm Canart & André-Dumont. From 1994 to 1996, he worked as a research fellow in the Institute for Labour Law at Leuven University.
From 1996 on, he worked as a counsel with the Belgian office of Hogan & Hartson LLP (now Hogan & Lovells), where he advised mainly Anglo-Saxon clients on (international) labour law.
From 1999 to 2011, he headed the social law department (4 lawyers) of VWEW Advocaten.
Guido has more than 20 years of experience in social law and advises both multinational and local companies. He also represents a variety of professional organisations and foreign authorities and advises Anglo-Saxon law firms. His extensive experience in rendering legal advice mostly concerns transnational employment, all matters relating to human resources and personnel policy and both individual and collective labour disputes.
He acts in court (labour court) in French and in Dutch, both for employers and employees.
Guido combines multilingualism (Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish) with a sense for practically-oriented solutions.
Guido is co-heading Curia's social law team since July 2011.
